Straight answers to what people ask us most about transmission work. Where the answer depends on your vehicle or on terms we confirm job by job, we’ll say so. Just give us a call.
It depends on what failed, the vehicle’s mileage, and what you plan to do with it. Sometimes the problem is a sensor, a solenoid or a valve body, and the transmission doesn’t need to come out at all. When it does, a rebuild on our bench replaces the worn parts and fixes the cause of the failure. A used unit can make sense on an older vehicle or a tight budget. We’ll explain the options for your vehicle and let you choose.
We start by asking what the vehicle is doing and when. Then we check the fluid, read any stored codes and drive it when it’s safe to. If the transmission has to come apart, we tear it down and look at the parts. We tell you what we found and what it will take before any repair starts.
We’re glad to talk it through, but an honest quote depends on what’s actually wrong. A slipping transmission might need a fluid service, a part, or a full rebuild, and those cost very different amounts. Tell us what’s happening through the Diagnosis & Quote form or by phone, and we’ll explain the next step.

It depends mostly on parts. Some parts arrive quickly and some take time to source, especially for less common or newer units. We’ll give you our best estimate once we know what the transmission needs, and we’ll tell you if the timeline changes.
