Transpecialists of Hickory is an owner-run transmission shop. Alex Galdamez and his crew rebuild automatic and standard transmissions, import and domestic, for drivers across the Catawba Valley.
Built around one job, done well
Most repair shops treat transmissions as one job among many, and they often install a replacement unit and send the car out. Transpecialists was built around transmissions. Our business card says it simply: Transmission Repair Specialists · Import and Domestic · 4WD · Automatic and Standard.
Owner Alex Galdamez is ASE certified and runs the shop himself. When you call, you’re usually talking to the person who will look at your transmission. Long-time customers say they’ve trusted Alex with their vehicles for ten years or more, and several come back with every car they own.
We also do the diagnostic work other shops skip. That means scanning, road testing, checking fluid and pressures, and sometimes finding that a valve body, a solenoid, or a torque converter is the real problem. When a full rebuild is the right call, we do it on our own bench and back it with a written warranty.
Our crew is bilingual, so se habla español. Some of our customers were referred by other transmission shops, which we consider one of the best compliments we can get.
